A Gaming Vest to Shake Up Your Video Game Experience
Instead of a little rumble in your controller every time you take a hit in a first-person shooter game or the ground collapses underneath you in a role-playing game, when you put on this gaming vest, you'll actually feel it. Designed by entertainment and communications company Immerz Inc, the KOR-FX gaming vest uses an acoustic-haptic technology that purportedly brings a sense of reality to your gaming experience. The vest takes the audio from your video game and transforms that information into haptic feedback in the vest. Haptic technology has been around since the 1970s, but the KOR-FX gaming vest differs from the rumble packs of old in that there are no internal motors to simulate your in-game experience through vibrations; instead, the "Feeling" sensation is simulated based on in-game sounds. So when you're playing your favorite FPS game, KOR-FX claims you'll feel the sensation of being hit while playing Counter Strike, or that you'll be able to feel an approaching vehicle in Call of Duty. The KOR-FX gaming vest is compatible with anything that has a standard 3.5mm audio jack - PCs, Macs, consoles, mobile devices. KOR-FX Gaming Vest's Kickstarter campaign, which ended recently, raised $183,449. A $150 donation to the Kickstarter campaign resulted in a first edition KOR-FX vest; the reported retail price will be $49.99.
