Aussie Surfer Scales Massive Pine Tree to Check Out the Waves
SYDNEY - A surfer in South Avalon, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, took prime position to check out the swell last Thursday. In an impressive feat, local lad Lachie Rombouts climbed 40 metres up the Norfolk Island Pine tree to do his daily surf check. Photographer Rita Kluge was grabbing a coffee when she saw the incredible sight and took a snap. "I was shooting photos for and spotted him while having coffee on South Avalon headland," Kluge told Mashable. "I was stunned by the height of that pine tree and how relaxed he was standing on it. He is an amazing surfer, so must have great balance from it." Rombouts often clambers up the tree, which has ladder-like branches, to get the ideal view of his beach.
