The Brilliant Transport Safety Ad Dumb Ways to Die is Back
Metro Trains in Melbourne is back at it again, with a sequel to its hugely popular "Dumb Ways To Die" campaign. On Oct. 23, the company released a teaser for their second game "Dumb Ways To Die 2: The Games", in which players will have to save the characters from dying from training injuries. The first video has been watched more than 90 million times since it was uploaded in 2012. It is essentially a safety message, warning people not to die in stupid ways using cartoon characters and a very catchy tune. "Dumb ways to die... Get your toast out with a fork, do your own electrical work, teach yourself how to fly, eat a two-week-old un-refrigerated pie... Dumb ways to die," the song warns. Metro Trains followed it up with a game, where the user had to save the lives of 21 cartoon characters from dying in idiotic ways, such as a wasp attack or being eaten by piranhas. The video, created by advertising agency McCann Melbourne, contributed to a 30 percent reduction in near-miss train accidents. Have something to add to this story? Share it in the comments.
