4 tips to lift employee morale during the busy holiday season
The holidays can be an incredibly busy time for small business owners and those in the retail space. A recent report by Forrester Research predicts that consumers will spend $89 billion shopping online during the holiday season this year, and Deloitte's 2014 annual holiday survey revealed shoppers plan to spend a little more than half of their holiday budget in-store. Because the holidays are a busy time for employees in their personal lives, too, entrepreneurs and business owners need to help these workers get through the hectic holiday season without drudging up feelings of resent. During the sometimes frantic holiday season, peer bonuses can also help build a stronger and more supportive team. A recent FlexJobs survey revealed that the top reason people seek out flexible work options is work-life balance - something that can be difficult to achieve during the holiday retail season. Although you may not be able to add a full gym to your office, you can look into bringing some of these elements into your workplace during the holidays. Although the holidays can be a challenging time, simple gestures of employee appreciation can go a long way. Providing food, recognizing hard work, embracing flexible schedules and bringing a little fitness into the office can help keep motivation up during the hectic holiday season.
