Heartbreaking moments as Australia bids farewell to cricketer Phillip Hughes
Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes died on Nov. 27, three days before his 26th birthday, after being hit by a cricket ball in a freak accident. Australian cricketers joined his family and politicians in a day of mourning for the young man lost suddenly on the cricket pitch. The cricket community has rallied around the young cricketer, who bowled the ball that hit Hughes. These 63 bats were on display at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A single bail sits on the ground at the Sydney Cricket Ground in rememberance of Phillip Hughes, before his funeral. Australian Test cricket captain Michael Clarke mourns the loss of his "Little mate." A single bat hangs as a tribute at the local cricket ground in Macksville, where Hughes grew up on a banana farm. Two Australians support each other as they say goodbye to their hero, whose final cricket score was 63 not out.
