Pandora redesigns apps to emphasize customization
Pandora stations are about to get easier to customize. The company previewed an upcoming update to its iOS and Android app Tuesday that will give users more ways to personalize the music in their radio stations. The update, which is still in beta, is focused on improving the way users can personalize stations. The now playing menu will include a new personalization icon that allows users to more easily surface station details, including a history of songs they've given the thumbs up or thumbs down, and which songs or artists the station is based on. You can also use this menu to rename or add more variety to stations. Users will be able to go back and change their mind about songs they have previously given the thumbs up or thumbs down. "We've paired this with effortless access to core station functionality: view station history, swipe back to view what's played on the station, adjust a thumb and get artist details." Swiping up over a song that's playing, for example, will surface contextual information about the current track and station.
